AREA 06C / ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT AREA

THE VIEW IS EASY. THE GROUND IS NOT.

Hartbeespoort combines steep Magaliesberg terrain, estates, tourism, hospitality and development around a major water body. Attractive sites frequently carry difficult access and level relationships.

A dam view does not make a platform level or a drainage route obvious.

WHY THIS AREA

WHERE MINI CIVILS FITS

Sloping residential and hospitality sites need a selective topographical brief that records retaining structures, access, drainage, visible services and the features that constrain design.

Construction set-out and verification are planned around safe instrument positions, surviving control and the actual building programme.

LOCAL GROUND // HARTBEESPOORT

TOURISM, ESTATES AND TOPOGRAPHY SHARE THE SAME SHORELINE.

The dam and mountain setting drive residential and visitor demand while making the physical sites less forgiving.

Concentrated development and difficult terrain make access, levels, drainage and retaining work recurring parts of the brief.
01

ESTATES

THE DEVELOPMENT IS OFTEN MULTI-PHASE.

Roads, services, platforms and houses rely on control that remains useful as successive phases move across the site.

02

TOURISM

VISITOR PROPERTIES KEEP EVOLVING.

Venues, restaurants, accommodation and recreation sites add extensions, access and service questions to already occupied ground.

03

TERRAIN

THE MAGALIESBERG DOES NOT NEGOTIATE.

Steep slopes, rock and concentrated runoff can determine design and earthworks before architecture gets a vote.

THREE CORE ACTIVITIES

ALMOST EVERY SITE QUESTION STARTS HERE.

TYPICAL REQUESTS

WHAT THE WORK MAY INCLUDE

  • Sloping-site topography
  • Estate and house set-out
  • Retaining and platform positions
  • Road and driveway levels
  • Drainage and visible services
  • As-built and completion checks

FIELD CONDITIONS // HARTBEESPOORT

SLOPES, ACCESS AND DRAINAGE SHAPE THE BRIEF.

A house, lodge or estate phase near the dam may be governed as much by the approach road, retaining work and concentrated runoff as by the building footprint. The useful survey has to capture those relationships clearly.

Detailed field stories are being prepared for , the forthcoming Mini Civils project portfolio.

ANOTHER ONE OF MY DAD'S SAYINGS

“DON'T BE GREEDY. LET THE SUN SHINE ON EVERYONE.”

NOT EVERY JOB NEEDS TO BE OURS.

We take on work when the scope, programme and travel make sense. If someone in our network is closer, has more suitable equipment or specialises in exactly what the project needs, we will say so and help point the client in the right direction.

The right person. The right equipment. The right job. Zero BS.

SEND THE LOCATION. SEND THE QUESTION.

WE'LL TELL YOU IF IT MAKES SENSE.

Include the site location, what is being built or checked, the approximate site size, available drawings and the required timeframe.
