Mini Civils provides construction set-out, topographical and as-built surveys across Krugersdorp, Mogale City, Randfontein and the West Rand. This is not a pin added to a coverage map. It is the ground we leave from, return to and understand.
Close enough to respond. Experienced enough to know what the site still needs to tell us.
WHY THIS AREA
WHERE MINI CIVILS FITS
West Rand enquiries range from a single position or level check to repeat construction visits over several months. Some sites need existing terrain captured for design. Others need foundations, grids, roads or services transferred from drawings onto the ground. Later, the same control may be used to verify what was built.
Being nearby shortens the response route, but proximity is not the value on its own. We first establish what decision the survey must support, what control exists and what the contractor, engineer or designer needs back from the field.
THE AREA IN MOTION // WEST RAND
HOME GROUND IS NOT STANDING STILL.
Krugersdorp and the West Rand carry several landscapes at once: established neighbourhoods, mining land being reconsidered, industrial sites, expanding western suburbs and the tourism economy around the Cradle of Humankind.
Local context, not a sales list. These are the forces shaping the ground we work on.
01
CITY / DEVELOPMENT
THE WESTERN EDGE KEEPS MOVING.
Residential growth, roads, services and commercial nodes continue to push outward from Johannesburg. Every new phase still begins with existing ground, reliable control and a drawing that must become positions on site.
The region's mining history left shafts, disturbed land and infrastructure constraints that still influence what can be built and how sites are investigated. Reuse requires more than a clean property boundary on a plan.
The fossil landscape is not only an ancient story. It supports venues, accommodation, attractions and rural businesses whose development must coexist with sensitive terrain and heritage significance.
Krugersdorp’s modern town story grew from the gold-mining era of the late 1800s. The wider municipality now carries the name Mogale City in honour of Chief Mogale wa Mogale—a history older than the mining town itself. Then the ground takes the story back much further: the nearby Sterkfontein, Swartkrans and Kromdraai fossil sites preserve evidence that has helped explain more than 3.5 million years of human evolution. Few working landscapes place mining history, living communities and ancient human origins this close together. ‘Home ground’ means more here than the place we leave from in the morning.
THE AREA WHERE THE STORY STARTED—AND THE WORK CONTINUES.
The business was founded on the West Rand in 1992. Three decades of working from the same home ground means the local value is not a borrowed place name or a manufactured branch address. The instruments and projects have changed; the working rule has not: understand the brief, establish reliable control, measure properly and check before reporting.

ANOTHER ONE OF MY DAD'S SAYINGS
“DON'T BE GREEDY. LET THE SUN SHINE ON EVERYONE.”
NOT EVERY JOB NEEDS TO BE OURS.
We take on work when the scope, programme and travel make sense. If someone in our network is closer, has more suitable equipment or specialises in exactly what the project needs, we will say so and help point the client in the right direction.
The right person. The right equipment. The right job. Zero BS.
SEND THE LOCATION. SEND THE QUESTION.
WE'LL TELL YOU IF IT MAKES SENSE.
Include the site location, what is being built or checked, the approximate site size, available drawings and the required timeframe.
